PFLAG scholarship program

PFLAG establishes scholarship program PFLAG -- Columbia/Howard County has joined other PFLAG chapters and the national organization in establishing a scholarship program for eligible high school students.

A $1,000 scholarship is offered to high school seniors who are gay, lesbian, bisexual, transgender or heterosexual allies and are planning to attend a two- or four-year college or university in the fall.

HCEDAC Scholarship

The Howard County Economic Development Authority's Committee for Business and Economic Diversity is accepting applications for the $1,000 Earl H. Saunders Entrepreneurial Scholarship. The scholarship recognizes a graduating senior who is a member of a minority group, a woman and/or disabled and who has demonstrated entrepreneurial spirit by starting a small business, assisting an existing business or developing an invention targeted toward business. Howard County Arts Council Scholarship

A new Hot Button (look to the right) will feature scholarship opportunities available to students.

The Howard County Arts Council will award a minimum of $10,000 in scholarship funds to students entering college in the 2007-08 academic year. Scholarships must be used for enrollment in an accredited college program for a degree in the arts. Awards will be made in the minimum amount of $1,000 and may be used for tuition and fees only. Applications are available from the Arts Council or on the website at www.hocoarts.org. Applications must be postmarked or hand-delivered by January 12, 2007.
